Technical Overview

If you’re a technical person looking for a solution to your technical problems, look no further.  Recovery Networks has the skills and the operational model to help you succeed in protecting your organization.  Most organizations rely on their IT Team to provide a recovery plan without a full budget to support the requirements.  We understand your dilemma because we see it every day.  You’re forced to do more with less budget and, if a disaster does hit, you’re left with the responsibility (and perhaps even the liability) to get the company operating immediately.

BackupNet

Online Backup

BackupNet® is an online backup service that protects your critical data, applications and OS’s while offering an automated solution to traditional backup methodologies.  In addition to traditional "off-site" backups, BackupNet provides local storage of data in addition to or in lieu of "off-site" storage of backup data.

BackupNet VRA (Virtual Recovery Appliance)

The VRA provides an integrated backup and recovery solution via a local appliance. The appliance stores the latest full backup on-site, while sending block-level, encrypted changes to the off-site Recovery Networks data storage vaults.  The BackupNet™ VRA allows for complete system restoration to physical and virtual environments without reinstallation of applications and service packs and patches.  Remote VRAs can easily and effectively be managed from a single location thereby providing backup/restore/recovery support for remote locations with local IT personnel. Our agentless technology allows you to backup servers without the need to install software agents on all your servers.

BackupNet performs daily backups of data to an off-site location where the data is vaulted in an encrypted, compressed format. For computers on a full T1 Internet connection, the typical backup of just 10GB of data would take approximately 18 hours. With the BackupNet technology, backing up a 10GB database can take as little as a few minutes. Moreover, with the BackupNet VRA, restoring 10GB of data does not even need to restore over your Internet connection as the BackupNet VRA contains the latest copy of all data.  As such, you will be restoring at Gigabit speeds.

The most important feature of the BackupNet VRA is that it will provide a platform for recovery.  That is, should a server on your network fail, that server can be restored from the local copy of data on the VRA to a virtual server running on the VRA, itself.  Thereby providing local, immediate recoverability for your network.

RecoverNet

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

RecoverNet® Services combine a number or proven technologies to provide comprehensive, highly customizable Business Continuity solutions.  These services include:

On-Call Service

In the event of an actual disaster, Recovery Networks will restore your online backups to a virtual environment within the Recovery Networks Operations Center – anything from a single server up to your entire network environment.  Your users are provided with remote access to your restored servers, enabling them to work from any Internet-ready location.

On-Demand Service

If minimal downtime is critical to your business operations, our On-Demand service is the solution.  Your critical servers are replicated in real time to a dedicated, secure environment in our operations center.  In the event of an actual disaster, the replicated servers can be quickly brought online.  Since there’s no waiting for restore jobs to complete, recovery time is reduced from hours to a matter of minutes.

Co-Location Services

Recovery Networks can host your servers in either a physical or virtual environment within our operation center.  Unlike traditional co-location, we offer these hosting services as part of your overall Business Continuity Plan.

Regular Testing

To ensure an optimal recovery process, we perform regular recovery tests on your On-Call, On-Demand and Co-Located servers.  The network services required for your business, plus specific server configurations and any special operating requirements, are noted and regularly updated for your Business Continuity plan.  This is a key element to our RecoverNet service.  Clients are required to test at least annually and our trained staff will perform all the recovery for you - all you need to do is run the applications to test.

StorageNet

Data Archiving

As your data storage requirements continue to grow, managing the rapid growth of that data becomes a costly and time consuming effort.  StorageNet® archives dormant data, decreasing storage requirements thereby reducing your storage infrastructure costs. Additionally, archiving dormant data will reduce your backup costs and your backup times as well as dramatically reduce your restore/recovery time objectives. StorageNet archives selected data and leaves behind pointers. As such, instead of backing up large files, you will be backing up smaller file pointers; dramatically reducing the amount of data being backed and drastically reducing restore times.  These "pointers" (or file stubs) contain all the metadata of the original file and, moreover, contain a direct link to the data so that if the file is ever opened, it is automatically retrieved and the pointer is replaced with the original file in real-time.  Lag times to open archived files are equivalent to opening a PDF from a website - nominal at best for data that is rarely accessed.

SafetyNet

Availability

SafetyNet® provides businesses that don’t have the budget for full disaster recovery services with the location and infrastructure for testing their existing backups as well as a place to recover should they experience a data failure/disaster.  With the SafetyNet service, clients can bring their backup tapes to our site and restore their environment utilizing their own backup software and media.  As with all of our services, we strongly encourage active testing and will even provide rebates for SafetyNet companies who test their recovery.
